Hall of Fame Legend Green Believes he Can Fix Forbes | Washington Commanders

By Adam Aniba

In a surprise statement, former Redskins Hall of Fame cornerback Darrell Green believes he can help Commander's rookie Emmanuel Forbes fix his issues in coverage.

Green played in 295 career games, all for Washington recording 54 interceptions and 6 TDs in 295 games.

The rookie cornerback recorded an interception during the Commanders 35-33 win vs Denver, but that has been one of the few bright spots for the rookie.

Many fans are already labeling Forbes as a bust, after being selected 16th overall in the 2023 NFL Draft. The loss of defensive backs coach Chris Harris after the 2022 season can't be understated and would have been the ideal teacher for Forbes.

Washington finished last season with the 12th ranked pass defense. This season has been a different story, in which they currently rank 29th through 8 games and are giving up an average 256.8 passing yards per game.

Although Green has no NFL coaching experience, the Harris group should consider hiring the Hall of Famer as a defensive back consultant and go from there. New ownership is likely to clean house next season and replace the coaching staff regardless.

Obviously the best course of action is to hire a GM and let him hand pick his head coach, who'll subsequently put together his staff. In saying that, hopefully Green is at least considered for a role with the team.

Having Green work with Forbes and Washington's cornerbacks would be a lot more than just a nostalgic move and hopefully the first step in Green building a career in coaching.
